Job Description:


WHAT'S THE JOB?
As a
Buyer, you will be responsible for the purchasing functions in a manufacturing facility to construct modular buildings.

You will ensure seamless supply of material to production with a focus on cost and ensuring the timely availability of materials for production.

You will monitor use and inventory levels; support lean initiatives; ensures success of material and acquisition cost savings initiatives; ensure positive supplier relations, while developing second source vendors and identifying vendors able to provide products that meet production requirements.


This is an 18 month contract role.

Your work will include:


  • Effectively liaise with other departments as necessary to forecast, plan to meet, and to supply demand to relevant quality required for the manufacturing of modular buildings.
  • Prepare purchase orders as required to meet plant demands and end purchase orders upon completion.
  • Maintain integrity of PO system and ensure PO's are applied to the correct job number as assigned.
  • Maintain a list of suppliers and update information regarding supplies on a regular basis.
  • Follow up on back orders to ensure a fast delivery of products.
  • Ongoing monitoring of shop inventory and assist with quarterly inventory procedures and preparation.
  • Build work orders for product cost over and above the Bill of Material List to ensure charge back to particular approved projects.
  • Assist payables with invoicing problems that relate to PO issues.
  • Research and survey buying market, to understand the trends in outsourcing and market changes.
  • Attend meeting, prepare month end PO accruals, update production on any issue regarding purchasing and provide information to management when required.

Qualifications:


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Course work in purchasing and administrative functions is considered an asset.
  • Enrollment in a PMAC program is considered an asset.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience in purchasing in a construction or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MS office (Word, and Excel).
  • Familiarity with NetSuite is an asset.
