Community Disability Worker - Evenings Full-Time

Hours:
Monday - Thursday 3:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. & Friday 3:00p.m. - 10:30p.m.


The Robin Hood Association is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to providing high quality, innovative services to children and adults with developmental disabilities in Fort Saskatchewan.

We are seeking qualified Community Disabilities Workers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.

The role is critical to the success of the individuals supported and requires a positive attitude that acknowledges the gifts and talents of those with disabilities.

We currently have a variety of positions open (evenings, weekends, awake nights(weekends) and relief, 7 days a week). Access to a vehicle to transport and ability to support individuals in the community is essential. Experience working with individuals with complex needs is an asset, or willingness to learn. Paid training will be provided upon hire.

Responsibilities:


  • Support individuals to complete daily tasks while encouraging independence and positive choices
  • Perform or assist with personal care and administering medications
  • Support individuals on social, community, and employment outings
  • Encourage individuals to pursue healthy living, fitness, and recreational activities
  • Report to the Community Disabilities Practitioner and/or Team Leader
  • Adhere to Robin Hood's Policies and Procedures

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education (preferably in a related field: Education or Disability Studies Degree; Rehabilitation Practitioner Diploma; Foundations in Community Disability Studies). Related experience may be considered in place of educational accreditation where appropriate.
  • Must be outgoing, friendly and possess a positive and professional attitude
  • 12 years supporting individuals with disabilities
  • Valid Alberta Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle and proof of 2 Million 3rdParty Liability Insurance. (ability to transport individuals in personal vehicle)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new concepts; be open to change; provide feedback and work as an effective team player.
  • Able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) _documents must be no older than 6 months old and are required at time an offer is made._
