Are you interested in developing and implementing graphic design and new media products, strategies and plans? Do you want to provide expertise and services in graphic and print design, video production and social media content in support of the delivery of ministry communications and marketing products? If so, then join the Communications Branch in this role where you will develop and implement both external and internal communications products and strategies in graphic design and new media products, services and activities.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Provide specialized and creative expertise and advice for the design of graphics and other creative options for print and electronic materials
  • Plan, develop and implement digital and graphic design outreach strategies, plans and products
  • Research and evaluate design techniques, channels and tools
  • Manage graphic design aspects for internal and publicfacing ministry websites, social media channels and graphic design products
  • Provide artistic and creative direction and research and prepare content to support ministry online new publications
  • Lead all stages of design projects from concept through to final production of a variety of communications and promotional materials
  • Coordinate procurement of external design services
  • Design unique communication utilities
  • Contribute to the development of the Ministry's internal communications framework and delivery strategy.

How do I qualify?:


Business Knowledge and Skills:


  • You have knowledge of communication theory, techniques and best practices, with specialization in graphic and digital design in both webbased, electronic and print environments
  • You are able to plan, develop and implement digital and graphic design outreach strategies, plans and products
  • You have knowledge of webbased graphic design techniques, innovations and resources to ensure ministry design, and visual presentation remain stateoftheart

Technical Knowledge and Skills:


  • You have sound knowledge of creative design software programs for desktop publishing purposes
  • You can develop graphic materials for websites, electronic only and/or printed materials, and prepare audio/video presentations
  • You have knowledge of all aspects of creative services, including industry standard and leading edge tools and techniques in desktop publishing, graphic design, layout, illustration and print production
  • You are able to work with industry standard graphic design software including: Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat Professional
  • You have knowledge of applicable legislation, directives, policies, procedures (e.g. visual identity, accessibility) to ensure compliance in the development and presentation of graphic designs
  • You have working knowledge of accessibility standards

Project Management and Analytical Skills:


  • You have knowledge of administrative directives, policies and procedures related to tendering, purchasing and contract administration
  • You have experience with project management methods to plan and lead communications graphic design projects
  • You are able to resolve project related problems and ensure timely and quality outcome, and to manage concurrent projects and deadlines
  • You have excellent analytical skills to determine optimum strategies and methods for the delivery of specialized creative services for a range of materials, products, tools and mediums
  • You have effective evaluative skills to review products and edit for clarity and presentation and evaluate emerging technology, tools and equipment
  • You are able to work under tight timelines

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:


  • You have knowledge of writing and editing styles to prepare and edit content for communications and marketing products
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills to develop and convey communications strategies and plans to decision makers
  • You are able to create outreach and marketing materials and tools and branded ministry products
  • You have effective consultation and interpersonal skills to meet with clients/stakeholders to understand or determine their needs
  • You are able to present design
