Position Summary:

The Resident Assistant offers services to residents as indicated in the service plans; assists in development and revision of service plans; observes for and reports resident problems; and performs certain dining services, activities, and housekeeping duties as needed.


Qualifications:


  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain any certifications as required by provincial regulations.
  • Current active CPR and Basic First Aid certificate
  • Current active HCA Certificate (relevant combination of caregiving experience and education will also be considered)
  • Current Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry check (within 12 months)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Submit all required documents in a timely manner.
  • Assist residents with performance of activities of daily living as indicated in service plans.
  • Assist residents with performance of simple treatments as indicated in service plans.
  • Assist residents with emotional health and/or problem behaviour issues as indicated in service plans.
  • Perform other services for residents as indicated in service plans (e.g., laundry and pet care).
  • Assist in development and revision of service plans by informing supervisor of current resident needs and preferences as well as successful service approaches.
  • Observe for and report resident problems to Charge Nurse.
  • Oversee Dining Engagement, including but not limited to participating and collaborating with Community Management Team and Dining Team to provide the highest standard of dining room experiences by providing resident engagement during the dining time.
  • Perform activities duties as assigned, including leading group activities, engaging in activities with individual residents, and accompanying residents to communitysponsored activities outside of community.
  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Perform housekeeping duties as indicated on Daily Assignments form (e.g., vacuuming common area carpeting and cleaning public restrooms).
  • Notify Resident Care Manager of any needed supplies.
