Primary Focus

The Pharmaceutical Review Assistant provides specialized technical and administrative support to multidisciplinary CADTH research teams to prepare (write) reports that address specific research and/or policy questions about pharmaceutical products.


On any given day, the Pharmaceutical Review Assistant will:

  • work within multidisciplinary review teams to provide technical support for the preparation of pharmaceutical review reports that address pharmaceutical-related research and/or policy questions, including (but not limited to) literature screening and selection; data extraction; data checking; summarizing data; and drafting, proofreading, and editing report contents
- help write for certain CADTH products and act as a secondary writer for larger projects for all programs within the Pharmaceutical Reviews directorate
- provide specialized administrative support to internal teams and external committees to ensure accurate collection, collation, recording, and communication of key information, including (but not limited to) records of decisions for expert committee meetings, minutes and actions for drug plan guidance committees, notes relevant to other important internal and external meetings as required, and technical surveys
- support current program priorities and support initiatives aligned with CADTH corporate objectives to enhance transparency, support evidence-based decision-making, and continuous quality improvement.

  • general statistics knowledge
- a good understanding of the health care systems in Canada at the federal, provincial, and territorial levels
- an understanding of medical and scientific language and a commitment to develop knowledge of systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and related topics
- familiarity with research data to drive and support decisions
- strong analytic capability with the ability to translate data into action
- the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and several projects simultaneously
- proficiency in giving and receiving balanced feedback
- the ability to work with little direction but know when to ask for help.
