**Assistant Executive Housekeeper

  • Non unionized**Reports to: Executive Housekeeper /General Manager/ AGM

Reporting to them:
Room Attendants, Laundry Attendants/ House persons and Housekeeping Supervisors


Summary of Position:

The Assistant Executive role is to produce a high-quality housekeeping product and to provide the ultimate guest experience.

The Assistant Executive is responsible for maintaining the Housekeeping Operations and controlling the daily activities, whilst ensuring cleanliness in public areas, guest rooms and laundry.

The Assistant Executive represents the Executive Housekeeper in her/ his absence and must be available weekends, holidays and evening shifts when necessary.

Some administrative duties are necessary to support the Executive through peak operations.


Be able to work in a standing and walking position for long periods (up to 8 hours) and is physically demanding.

Ability to climb, grasp, bend, walk, push or pull heavy loads and must be able to work hands on in operations when needed.


Qualifications:


  • 34 years' experience in housekeeping operations
  • 45 years in a managerial role in housekeeping within a property of 250 rooms or more
  • Demonstrated experience in a unionized environment
  • Onproperty full time (no remote work)
  • Bilingualism an asset

Duties/ Responsibilities and Expectations:


  • Priority is to inspect guest rooms (up to 80 rms) and do building tours. To maintain high levels of cleanliness and building conditions in compliance with Courtyard Marriott brand standards and BSA standards.
  • Promote a positive work environment through employee engagement
  • To accurately complete reports/ forms and all documentation records
  • Maintain strong interdepartmental relationships
  • Responsible to be compliant with the Collective Agreement and Code of Conduct and ESA
  • To assist physically in operations, especially during cases of staff shortages due to weather/ sick calls etc.
  • Must respond to special requests, VIP rooms, emergency situations
  • Must observe staff have proper uniforms/ nametags and hygiene protocol.
  • Able to communicate in an effective manner and aid in conflict resolution
  • Be able to give positive feedback and have critical conversations
  • Able to assist with new hire orientation/training and equipment and uniform delegation
  • To maintain punctuality and be responsible for time management
  • Safe usage/storage of all materials/equipment and chemicals
  • Attend meetings and training as required. Must be creative and contribute new ideas
  • To maintain security in the building, company assets and guest/coworkers' safety with full adherence to security procedures with proper handling of keys.
  • Update physical status of room and monitor check out and arrivals and designated work loads
  • When necessary, assist with the opening and closing procedures/ Lost and found enquiries and logging of items /Fill in shift report and pass on information to supervisors and the Executive
  • Must be able to multitask and work under pressure
  • Complete storage/ cart checks as well as handle par stock levels for amenities, linens and chemicals.
  • Participate in all inventories and monitor/document discard and linen/ terry levels
  • Responsible for monitoring staff workloads and review daily strategies
  • Follow all Health and Safety protocol and Covid 19 Marriott and Ontario laws and standards
  • Demonstrate Bona Hospitality, Marriott and Courtyard standards at all times
  • Endeavour to learn at every opportunity on all levels of management.
