BROCKMANN'S CHOCOLATES


Acquired by Foley's Candies LP in 2018, Brockmann's Chocolates is a premier confectioner based in Delta, BC founded by Norbert and Marianne Brockmann in 1986.


Steeped in decades of family traditions and inspired by his European heritage, Norbert began crafting recipes for a signature line of premium truffles for local businesses and hotels.


With all chocolate products produced at their facility in Delta, BC Brockmann's Chocolates is known for their signature truffle collection, consisting of premium dark, milk and white chocolate in 10 flavours.


SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
We are excited to share this opportunity to join our team as a Quality Assurance Technician. This permanent, full-time role, reporting to the QA Manager, will be based out of Delta BC.


Under general supervision, the primary function of the Quality Assurance Technician is to provide support to the manufacturing operations and, at times, be the sole Quality representative.

They have overall and general responsibility for compliance to all company and regulatory policies/procedures pertaining to product safety/quality and are involved in the delivery of related training.

The QC Technician has a sound working knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) requirements and is able to follow duties according to established SOPs and policies and directions.

all QA roles are required to operate within a flexible work hour environment (any 8-hour shift between 530am and 10pm).


Reporting to the QA Manager, duties include but are not restricted to:

  • Participate and support Management in the development of GFSI master schedule for a sustainable SQF Food Safety Program
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Food Safety and Quality Management system by developing prerequisite programs, food safety plans, and preventive control plans as required by legislation and SQF Code.
  • Work with Management to maintain programs for Organic and Kosher certifications.
  • Support Product Development in approving new ingredients and suppliers as well as performing risk assessments and setup procedures for new products.
  • Work with Management to maintain the recipe data base.
  • Conduct risk analyses, verification, and validation activities to support the company's food safety and quality management system.
  • Actively participate with 3rd party audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Assist and participate in the customer complaints by coordinating with Management and the Operations Team to perform investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action identification, and responding to the customer in a timely manner.
  • Participate in HACCP Team and Management Review Meetings.
  • Assist with the scheduling and conduct of Quality and Food Safety Training for employees.
  • Perform label review and approval for developed packaging.
  • Respond to customer requests and inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Analyze trends affecting the company's quality and food safety program.
  • Work with the Operations Team to address food safety and quality issues identified for correction and improvement.
  • Review and approve quality records, documentation and identified metrics requirements.
  • Conduct plant and line inspections as required for programs compliance and training purposes. i.e. weights and measures, product quality, sanitation, GMP's.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures such as, hold and release procedures, shelflife studies and compile reports.
  • Maintain product traceability verifying lot numbers and systems and participate in traceability and mock recall exercise.
  • Other duties or assignments that may be required

Minimum Skills Knowledge & Education Required:

  • B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field or equivalent related education
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience
  • Solid command of the English language; capable of using moderately complex oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated competency in all food safe practices
  • Exercises respectful communications with others
  • Demonstrates dexterity in handling and performing tests in an accurate manner.
  • Able to lift up to 20kg on an occasional basis.
  • Sound problem solving/trouble shooting skills
  • Accuracy and a strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding of a production / manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in computer programs / software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements
  • PRP, HACCP, Good Manufacturing Process (GMP), Preventive Controls, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in
