Job Description:

Z-Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, seeks a Quality Inspection Team Lead for our location in Kitchener, ON. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this position will oversee activities within the Inspection department.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Oversee the Quality Inspection team and quality inspection process for online inspection of products
  • Oversee the Inspection of constructed modules, including MEP systems, for conformance to drawings, specification, building codes, provincial and federal regulations or other applicable ordinances
  • Lead the gage calibration process to ensure it is in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Supervise Online Inspection staff, including delegating tasks, reporting absence, providing performance feedback to Quality Manager, and other duties as required
  • Set an example for all employees by working in a safe manner, abiding by all Health and Safety policies and procedures, and using all assigned PPE
  • Monitor the safety of team members and colleagues and report concerns to the Quality Manager and/or Health and Safety Manager
  • Assist management with hiring processes and new team member training
  • Communicate deadlines to team members and provide handson support when needed to support the production process and provide courteous customer service to internal staff requesting services from the Quality team
  • Examine drawings and blueprints for new buildings and structures to help determine the quality inspections required
  • Supports the Quality Manager in developing policies, procedures, and methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials, components and/or operations.
  • Assists in developing, assuring, and maintaining the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures, quality audits/review, process engineering, etc.
  • Tracks and resolves quality issues and works with peers to support closure of those issues.
  • Various other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or other designated leadership members
  • Regular, fulltime, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in a construction or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, specifications, etc.
  • Knowledge and usage of measuring and testing devices, hand, and power tools
  • Basic math abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills
  • Uncompromising commitment to safety
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Regular, fulltime, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:


  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for several hours
  • Regular, fulltime, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.
  • Must be able to lift 60lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for 1012 hours
  • Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Other physical requirements as needed for job
