Description
The Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto is recruiting for a highly organized and service and cleanliness oriented individual.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Night Cleaner ensures that assigned areas are properly cleaned and ready for the opening of the Club each day.

This is a position of trust as the Night Cleaner is also responsible for the security of the building and its contents.

Hours:

40+ hours per week 11 PM to 7 AM (may be required to work weekends and holidays). On occasion may be required to work a day or evening shift to help cover departmental vacations.

Duties:

  • General Cleaning and Housekeeping Duties:
  • Dust, wipe, mop, sweep, vacuumassigned areas
  • Wipe down showers, toilets, sinks, countersin assigned locker and washroom areas
  • Remove, stock, wash, and fold towels in locker and sports assigned areas
  • Use of cleaning chemicals required
  • Buff and polish wooden or rubber floors
  • Shampooing carpets
  • Garbage and recycle removal
  • Working at Heights may be required from time to time for cleaning light fixtures
  • Wipe down fitness equipment, mirrors, windows in assigned areas
  • Sweep and water Har-Tru tennis courts

Property & Security:


  • Ensures all doors are properly locked after hours
  • Remains vigilant of persons that may be around the property
  • Must be visible at reception from 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM. Performs housekeeping duties in this area at this time
  • May be required to conduct fire watch as assigned
  • Deal with emergency situations i.e. mechanical breakdowns, fire

  • Reports any issues, broken equipmentto the Facilities Manager on a daily basis
  • Must abide by club policies, procedures, practices and all relevant legislation including human rights, health and safety, violence in the workplace
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Background check
  • 2 years experience in the custodial or cleaning industry
  • Able to work without supervision in a timely and thorough manner
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Organized
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • WHMIS certificate an asset
  • Working at Heights certificate an asset
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in all situations, including emergencies
  • Physical functions of the job include: working on your feet throughout an entire shift, working in various temperatures, working at heights, lifting, pushing, bending, stretching
  • Working with heavy machinery such as carpet cleaners, buffers
