DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The incumbent is the primary point of contact for all inbound and outbound goods and supplies on the Whitby campus.

The incumbent is responsible for maintaining an organized and safe dock area and operating a forklift and pump cart.

The incumbent processes incoming and outgoing Whitby campus mail which includes internal pickup and delivery; sorting; bundling and preparing for shipment to Oshawa for metering.


Shipping / Receiving:


  • Ship and receive all deliveries entering the loading area, verifies packages, signing packing slips, checking for and reporting observable damages, open all packages, count and record, enter shortages.
  • Receive and maintain records for purchase orders.
  • Forward packing slips to Accounting and advises recipients of receipt of goods.
  • Prepare materials to be shipped including paperwork, customs, packaging and carrier arrangements.
  • Ensure loading dock area is maintained in a clean, organized and safe manner.
  • Operate a fork lift and hand pump truck daily.
  • Deliver skids to bookstore when needed via pump cart, hand or forklift.
  • Reconcile Whitby courier bills and prepare spreadsheet.
  • Receive quotes from vendors and advise of most economical way of shipping.
  • Train work study or summer student (processes and procedures).
  • Reconcile packing slips to P.O.'s
  • Proper tagging and recording of capital assets required.
  • Assist staff with shipping out counting, boxing, skidding as necessary

Mailroom:


  • Organize mail delivery for entire campus and complete campus route.
  • Assist staff with inquiries regarding Canada Post shipping costs.
  • Deliver packages to appropriate staff./departments

Printshop:


  • Restock staples, paper and toner. Contact IT via Service Desk when appropriate for service requests. Order requirements as needed.
Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum of a oneyear certificate in Microsoft Office.
  • Forklift Operator Safety training, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Radioactive Good training are required.
  • Valid G Driver's license is required.
  • Minimum of one year related experience in a shipping/receiving environment with forklift operation.
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently as well as work collaboratively with team members.
  • Welldeveloped problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
