Description

BGC Jane and Finch Club serves over 2,500 children and youth in the Jane and Finch and surrounding communities providing social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs.

Your role as a Camp Mentor will be to provide a safe and supportive environment for the program participants. This program is designed for children 5-12 years of age. Program components include education, recreation, social activities, sports, health and nutrition, mentoring and the arts.


Locations:
Grandravine Children Center (300 Grandravine Unit 176A) more locations will be announced soon.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan, organize and lead a group of children in a group setting.
  • Ensure that you are creating a safe and enjoyable environment for participants.
  • Create and facilitate fun, creative and inclusive activities for all participants.
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies are in safe working condition.
  • Complete appropriate administrative tasks in a timely manner (i.e., attendances and head counts)
  • Developing and planning programs that meet the interests of children's ages of 5 and 12 years.
  • Ensuring programs are safe, age/developmentally appropriate, noncompetitive, inclusive, innovative and skilled based in nature.
  • Help to ensure the safety and security of the members and assist in responding to critical incidents as outlined in the Club's policies and procedures.
  • Participate in staff training and orientation sessions.
  • Dealing with conflicts and behavior management immediately using corrective techniques as discussed in training.
  • Report to and takes direction from Supervisors.
  • Do other related tasks, as assigned.
  • Maintain professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, parents and other Club members.
  • Collaborating with community partners and stakeholders
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Must be comfortable going swimming or completing water activities daily.

Qualifications:


  • Current First Aid and CPR training (mandatory)
  • Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring)
  • High Five
  • Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset)

June 26, August 18, 2023

*Must attend mandatory training from June 26 to June 30*

$16.00


Hours:
per week Monday to Friday looking for individuals available 5 days a week
