The OER Projects Coordinator position supports the Open Educational Resources (OER) publishing initiative at Conestoga College.

The role will simultaneously support multiple OER projects with content management and the production of openly licensed course learning materials.

The OER Projects Coordinator provides support, OER awareness, and technical training to OER creator project team participants developing digital Open Educational Resources.

The OER Projects coordinator provides a final review of OER projects to ensure optimal end-user experience in both functionality, design, accessibility, and overall quality.

Occasional travel to other campuses will be required as needed.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborates and generates project plan schedules that meet deliverables and maximize efficiencies of supports
  • Conducts routine checkins with OER project team leads to assess support needed to ensure projects meet project plan milestones.
  • Clones or imports existing OER content into the content management system (CMS) Pressbooks and cleanups up code and/or tagging
  • Provides ongoing guidance, facilitating, and a final review of OER content for accessibility, readability, copyright compliance, and overall design quality that includes technical support for a highquality enduser experience in both digital and print formats.
  • Provides guidance and instruction to OER participants to further develop skills and abilities to identify, evaluate, and map existing OER content to course outlines
  • Provides guidance and instruction to research, search and find creative commons licensed OER that can be adopted and adapted in OER projects
  • Provides instructional and training to incorporate accessibly and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) requirements in OER projects
  • Determines which open publishing platforms best suit the OER project goals and deliverables
  • Provides training and technical support for chosen publishing platforms such as Pressbooks and H5P
  • Conducts code cleanup and tagging enhancements using HTML/XHTML, CSS.
  • Provides opportunities for OER Participants to view various formats of their creations
  • Provides technical support to generate backups and export files to open publishing repositories
  • Provides regular guidance and training on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and AODA compliance
  • Provides guidance and instruction on APA 7th edition citation and creative commons attribution requirements
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify collaborative partnerships
  • Reviews participant agreements with project teams and identifies potential issues proactively with an agile response to solving issues
  • Provides guidance and instruction to refine content for the intended audience and to meet UDL and accessibility requirements, including code tagging instruction for digital and print copies
  • Provides instruction and technical support to design and add in multimedia, interactive learning objects, and images that Universal Design for Learning (UDL), copyright, and attribution requirements
  • Provides guidance and instruction to develop associated ancillary resources that maximizes adoption and meets OER project deliverables
  • Collaborates with OER Consultant, Instructional Designer, and related internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of current OER training, and associated digital literacy skills, and identified gaps for the purpose of developing OER training that meets the needs of OER project teams, deliverables, and programs
  • Collaborates to evaluate feedback forms, focus group feedback, and feedback from OER project teams to generate continuous improvement to instructional materials, templates, and ongoing training to meet the OER Project team's needs
  • Provides responsive instruction, training, or guidance to OER projects teams as they identify gaps in knowledge while working on their OER projects and bring that forward for ongoing OER evaluation of training

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in, Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Library and Information Sciences or related field; Master's Degree preferred
  • Three years of experience working in a variety of capacities supporting clients in the use of technology for learning, including current, relevant technical
