PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:




NOTE:
THIS SHIFT IS FROM NOON (12PM) TO 8PM


  • Schedule and dispatch drivers to pick up and deliver loads to and from customers
  • Be the reliable point of contact for the drivers to successfully balance the driver's health and safety with customer requirements.
  • Working closely with dock staff to review inbound freight manifest & prioritizing trailers accordingly.
  • Assist in achieving the objectives of the pickup and dropoff (P&D) operations, such as % ontime delivery, stops per hour
  • Manage on time performance of deliveries.
  • Maintain contact with drivers throughout the day.
  • Bring to the attention of the Driver Trainer and/or Driver Management team any driver problems impacting the operation (P&D or Dock).
  • Plan the P&D activities and staffing required to meet the objectives (and to advise the Driver Trainer of the requirements).
  • Ensure drivers are aware of all/any unusual delivery/pickup requirements and update Degama System.
  • Ensure drivers are made aware of all appointment deliveries, cash collects and C.O.D.'s.
  • Prioritize and assign pickups to drivers to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • To be familiar with all P&D routes and any problem areas.
  • Ensure all appointment freight is brought to the attention of the AM Operations Supervisor and is loaded in a way to ensure on time delivery.
  • Monitor and track all equipment as assigned or moved.
  • To perform driver checkout as required
  • To assist drivers resolve any conflicts in a professional manner.
  • To ensure all updates in Degama System are done in real time for statuses of all trucks and trailers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Dispatching in an Less than Truck Load (LTL) transport environment, city/local dispatching
  • Transportation/Trucking Industry experience required
  • There is a need to be focused on the job from start to finish; there is rarely any downtime and you'll be taking calls and managing routes all day. For this reason, you must be highly organized and able to handle high amounts of stress.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a diverse environment
