In addition, this role will:

  • implement regulatory compliance controls such as accessibility and privacy
- assist in maintaining licensing oversight
- liaise and collaborate with other compliance units, legal, Privacy Office, Ombudsman, and support Freedom Experience strategic projects


Finally, this role is both the Privacy Champion Alternate and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) Alternate Leader and BCP Coordinator for Practices, ensuring that plans are effectively documented and remain current.


What you will do

  • Legislative changes have appropriate Freedom Experience awareness and engagement
  • Policies, practices, and licencing guides are updated to comply with emerging regulatory requirements
  • Deliver 1st line of defense activities
  • Annual validation of RCA assessment ratings
  • Collaborate with corporate and business partners to ensure audit and compliance assessments are executed efficiently, review findings are fairly presented and, Freedom Experience leaders develop appropriate action plans that consider risk and cost
  • Confirmation from Privacy office that meeting obligations have been met
  • Timely resolution of privacy breaches; corrective action taken as required

What you will bring

  • Postsecondary education preferred; however, applicants with an equivalent level of training or experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a financial services industry role with operational risk and compliance related accountabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, French and Mandarin
  • Experience in group life insurance and retirement will be an asset
  • Experience in researching and interpreting legislation and communicating requirements to stakeholders will be an asset
  • Proven ability to identify, understand, effectively communicate and solution new business risks and control gaps
  • Ability to review, assess and interpret complex material to identify impacts within the Freedom Experience operations
  • Ability to explore options to meet emerging needs
  • Ability to effectively communicate requirements, risks, and solutions
  • Ability to foster working relationships with all business partners at all levels to ensure that compliance work is appropriately prioritized within the Freedom Experience organization
  • Extensive knowledge of life, disability and group retirement policy and practices will allow for appropriate assessment of risk due to legislative changes
