Position Summary...

Reporting to the Senior Quality Manager, HRLMP, the Project Manager is responsible for managing the staff and all activities related to the initiation, planning, implementation and close-out of large, complex, high risk and financially intensive laboratory projects across the Program in accordance with the HRLMP Strategic Plan, SJHH's Corporate Project Management Methodology for HHS and SJHH.


The position will comply and work in conjunction with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of HRLMP, aligned with SJHH and HHS, which foster a culture of patient and staff safety.

The role is responsible for ensuring the appropriate team is assembled to execute strategic planning successfully.

The position also provides leadership to and coordinates the work of all positions dedicated to the project and monitors and manages the cost, risk, schedule, governance, technical performance, and program impact of each of their assignment projects.


The Project Manager manages the scope of the programs/projects, is responsible for identifying risks and building contingencies to mitigate risk and escalates risk issues that exceed their scope of authority well in advance of any potential liability to the Hospital.


The Project Manager seeks resolution as required and is accountable for the outcome, benefit realization, and the ultimate success of the projects to which he/she is assigned and is responsible for quality control for their projects ensuring all major milestones are met.


As leader in change, the Project Manager will be responsible for stakeholder engagement, communication, collaboration, changes processes, the development of strategies and operational plans related to the project and other elements as required ensuring the success of the project.


What We are Looking For...

  • Undergraduate degree in a related health profession or a discipline such as Health Sciences, Health Administration, Public Administration or Business is required
  • Masters in Healthcare Administration, MBA or relevant field of study is preferred
  • Background in Medical Laboratory Technology is preferred
  • PMP, LEAN, Six Sigma or similar Kaizen training/education is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership position in a healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex change projects that are strategic in nature
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams of professional employees, consultants and contractors
  • Demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills to optimize the outcome of project deliverables, working in partnership with peers, business users and IT service providers
  • Ability to estimate development efforts (resourcing and budget)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, presentation and customer service skills to build relationships with internal staff and external suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work activities of the project team and reallocate team resources as required to meet plan deliverables
  • Ability to build consensus by listening and understanding different points of view, proposing acceptable alternatives and influencing people's opinions
  • Ability to lead and manage through ambiguity and complexity
