What we seek:

OCHC is currently seeking a dedicated Manager, Automation Systems (SMART Buildings).

Under the guidance of the Director, Digital Solutions, the Manager, Automation Systems is responsible developing and implementing turnkey security systems, and programs to protect company assets, employees, visitors, and tenants.

The Manager, Automation Systems will also oversee the expansion and coordination of Building Automation systems throughout the portfolio.

As a Manager, Automation Systems, some of the things you will do include:

Building Automation Systems

  • Manages the effective and efficient operation of areas of responsibility, monitoring and reporting on adherence to targets and performance indicators, and driving continuous improvement
  • Work closely with the Community Safety Services division to implement comprehensive security and technology strategies to safeguard and improve the organization's assets, including buildings, facilities, and equipment.
  • Manage and optimize building automation systems for improved control and efficiency in conjunction with OCH's Asset Management group.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with vendors to ensure that OCH is maximizing the investments made through roadmap development and system enhancements in support of continuous improvement.
  • Establish master service agreements within an ecosystem of vendors to support the reliable operation of automation systems enterprisewide.
  • Ensure that systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Generate regular reports for stakeholders to communicate key system performance and efficiency metrics.
  • Collaborate with internal and external IT resources to ensure seamless connectivity and data exchange between different systems.

People Management

  • Provides leadership and overall management of staff within areas of responsibility, including assigning, monitoring and evaluating work, setting work plans, priorities and expectations, coaching, developing and motivating staff, and ensuring effective service delivery.
  • Identifies, plans for and manages human resources needs for assigned area of responsibility, including hiring, termination, discipline, investigations and grievances
  • Ensures the timely investigation, response to, and documentation of workplace incidents
  • Ensures that own work and the work of staff aligns with OCH values, interests, plans and objectives
  • Ensures that own work and the work of employees is carried out in accordance with applicable health, safety and privacy legislation, policies and procedures, and other legislation, policies and procedures relevant to area of work

External / Internal Relationships

  • Participates in management team meetings, departmental and corporate workgroups, committees and initiatives as identified
  • Works in collaboration with other staff in a team approach to service delivery


Manages collaborative and results oriented relationships, acting as a respectful, courteous and professional representative of OCH with all work-related contacts.
