What the day will look like

  • As an Actuarial Analyst, you will report directly to a senior leader in the office. Your workload will look a little bit different each day as you work on a variety of projects to help clients located both within Saskatchewan and across Canada. You will use standalone and Excelbased actuarial tools, as well as prepare written communication in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Your typical tasks will include:
- provision of technical and analytical support to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of our clients' pension plan arrangements, including: calculating benefit entitlements, preparing member benefit packages, and assisting consultants in helping our clients with day-to-day pension issues and questions;
- preparation of all aspects of pension plan year-ends, including: updating of plan records, reconciliations of membership, and reconciliations of assets; and
- preparation of all aspects of pension plan actuarial valuations, including: reading and interpreting plan texts, data reconciliation, benefit and contribution requirement calculations, asset summaries, costings and projections, and completion of documents for filing with pension regulators.

  • In addition, you will be given opportunities for learning by participating in internal training, seminars, and working closely with senior colleagues in the office.

  • Competence in mathematics, financial analysis, and the Microsoft Office Package;
  • Refined interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both verbally and written;
  • Ability to manage workloads, prioritize requirements, and meet tight deadlines;
  • Customer focused with positive relationship building skills and meticulous attention to detail; and
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a key member of a team as well as independently with minimum supervision.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Previous experience in a professional work environment, including coop and term positions; or
  • Previous experience in group underwriting, group benefits, pension consulting, or actuarial consulting.
  • Education:
  • Post-Secondary degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Commerce, or any relevant field;
  • Progress towards the Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA) designation; and
  • Dedication to ongoing learning and professional development, including working towards the successful completion of the Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA) and/or Fellowship of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) designations.
