Duties:


Reporting to the Director, VIU International, and supervised by the Advisor, International Mobility, the Coordinator, International Mobility serves as a key provider of supports and services related to inbound and outbound international mobility (exchange, study abroad, field schools, research, etc), including the development of online pre-departure training modules and information.

The Coordinator, International Mobility also supports the tracking of exchange and study abroad agreements (in close collaboration with the Coordinator, Partnerships and Research), and produces reports to share exchange balance information and other planning data.

The Coordinator, International Mobility works collaboratively with all VIU International units, and the VIU community.

The Coordinator, International Mobility is responsible for the following and other related duties as assigned:

  • Supports the Advisor, International Mobility to develop and refine VIU's international mobility strategy and implement operational plans based on that strategy
  • In close collaboration with the Advisor, International Mobility, and Coordinator, Operations, oversees exchange and study abroad agreements to track balances, and ensure that agreements are uptodate
  • In close collaboration with the Advisor, International Mobility, and Coordinator, Operations, supports the development of international mobility partnerships
  • In close collaboration with the Advisor, International Mobility and the Immigration Advisors, contributes to supporting and tracking international visiting student scholars and researchers, and international visiting employee scholars and researchers to ensure all government and university processes are followed
  • Collects and analyzes international mobility data to inform the planning and implementation of International Mobility programs and activities
  • Supports the development and delivery of online predeparture training modules and information that cover all aspects of travel preparation and contributes to student and employee compliance with the VIU International Travel Risk Policy, focusing on travel registry registration and other required risk mitigation supports such as the Registration of Canadians Abroad (ROCA)
  • Supports the development and delivery of International Mobility activities including marketing, social media and resources
  • Coordinates scholarship and award / grant initiatives focused on increasing participation in both inbound and outbound mobility activities
  • Supports Field Schools via updated processes recommended by the International Field School Review Committee
  • Participates in the development of proposals for international mobility funding programs such as Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) and Queen Elizabeth Scholars (QES)
  • Applies student development theory to all aspects of the role
  • Provides services while maintaining appropriate confidentiality in compliance with VIU protocols and procedures

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree. Minimum three years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience with collecting and analyzing international mobility data to inform and support program planning and implementation
