Description
***: The Cook is responsible for the preparation and cooking of all food for patients and residents. The Cook works co-operatively with the Lead Chefs and Assistant Cooks to complete all assigned duties as required. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission & Values of Providence Healthcare.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Produce all food requirements by adhering to standard food preparation techniques and records quality assurance information;
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures pertaining to Food Services;
  • Maintain open communication with both Supervisor and coworkers at all times;
  • Attend and participate in production and staff meetings;
  • Adheres to Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Providence Healthcare's Health and Safety Policies;
  • Adheres Providence Healthcare's Incident Reporting Policy;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • 23 years cooking experience in a cafeteria or institutional setting;
  • Graduate of an approved and recognized chef's, culinary or apprentice's Training course;
  • Red Seal designation required;
  • Sound knowledge of institutional and large quantity cooking;
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely;
  • Ability to lift heavy objects;
  • Familiar with standardized recipes and portion control;
  • Strong knowledge of English language with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Very good attendance record;
  • Good performance record.
