***: The Cook is responsible for the preparation and cooking of all food for patients and residents. The Cook works co-operatively with the Lead Chefs and Assistant Cooks to complete all assigned duties as required. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission & Values of Providence Healthcare.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce all food requirements by adhering to standard food preparation techniques and records quality assurance information;
- Adhere to all policies and procedures pertaining to Food Services;
- Maintain open communication with both Supervisor and coworkers at all times;
- Attend and participate in production and staff meetings;
- Adheres to Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Providence Healthcare's Health and Safety Policies;
- Adheres Providence Healthcare's Incident Reporting Policy;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 23 years cooking experience in a cafeteria or institutional setting;
- Graduate of an approved and recognized chef's, culinary or apprentice's Training course;
- Red Seal designation required;
- Sound knowledge of institutional and large quantity cooking;
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely;
- Ability to lift heavy objects;
- Familiar with standardized recipes and portion control;
- Strong knowledge of English language with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Very good attendance record;
- Good performance record.
