GEF Seniors Housing is the largest non-profit social housing operator for seniors in Alberta and is a registered charity. Our vision is to create vibrant and affordable communities for seniors, where they can live with dignity and thrive in their communities.
The Communications Coordinator plays a crucial role in driving the efficiency of our Communications and Engagement department and contributing to the overall success of our organization.
Reporting to the Director, Communications and Engagement, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supporting GEF communications and engagement activities, including the development of web content, marketing, and promotional materials, and assisting with events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides program and administrative support to share information using digital forms of communication such as the website, social media channels, electronic newsletters, blogs, infographics, videos, etc.
- Collaborate with Life Enrichment team to coordinate activities, including events, that promote fundraising campaigns and volunteer opportunities as well as recognize donors and volunteers.
- Liaise with the Content Writer to create brochures, presentations, reports, posters, infographics, and other communications materials.
- Demonstrate a collaborative, engaging, and supportive work style that positively contributes to the team as well as GEF's Mission and strategic direction.
- Champion GEF's Quality of Life Philosophy in support of clients' quality of life.
- Represent GEF at trade shows and other community events as required.
Requirements:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field, or demonstrated experience with social media and other webbased communications.
- 2+ years of experience in marketing/communications, preferably in nonprofit sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, with a positive people focus and ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in using MS Office Suite, Google Suite & analytics, website authoring software (e.g., WordPress), online design tools (e.g., Canva, etc.), photo/video editing/posting software to create engaging communications and advertising materials.
- Compliance with GEF policies, procedures, legislation, and provincial standards.
- Problem solving skills in identifying and addressing communications issues.
- Valid driver's license and own vehicle.
Details:
Full time, Days, 37.50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Pay Scale:
Commensurate with education and experience.
Location:
Central Services, Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 4B3 (travel between various GEF sites is required, mileage paid).
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal records check and be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
