Job Description:

As the Financial Controls and Compliance Lead you have the oversight over the Financial Controls Manual (FCM ) related activities for Sandoz Canada's various functions.

This includes awareness of internal and external regulations to comply with. You ensure internal control sign-off by management without significant deficiencies or material weaknesses.

You provide deliverables according to FCM schedule and coordinate with Divisions and Sandoz Global Competency Center (GCC) on establishing and maintaining an adequate control environment.

You follow and implement global finance process improvement initiatives, sharing leading practices.


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the control and compliance activities within Sandoz Canada for various functions
  • Liaison/coordination with Global and GCC, including obtaining/providing subcertifications, testing etc as required.
  • Regular performance metrics reporting
  • Liaison with stakeholders, including CFO, Internal Audit (IA), external Audit and Corporate Financial Controls (CFC)
  • Provide all required FCM deliverables according to the communicated schedule
  • Ensuring risks are addressed by adequate controls per internal customer
  • Supervise test of Sandoz Canada's controls, including Segregation of Duties
  • Keep track of own and Divisional Finance action items/deficiencies (may come from different sources such as IA, FCM selfassessment, external auditors, etc.)
  • Process walkthroughs as required/requested.

Minimum Requirements


What you'll bring to the role:

  • Professional accounting designation (CA, CGA) and B.Comm. with 4-6 years of experience in controls and compliance. Previous experience in auditing, managing quality for shared services is an asset
  • Highly qualified in accounting/IFRS and excellent computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS Office Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multinational, matrix organization
  • Excellent understanding of financial information systems, processes and internal controls
  • Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent people and communication skills in English and French (spoken and written)
