Description

The City of Cornwall is seeking a part time Recreologist at the Glen Stor Dun Lodge who will establish comprehensive activities and recreation service that is designed to provide both therapeutic and supportive approaches to Resident/Client care in the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual area.

The Recreologist is responsible for providing the proper execution of the following:

Design, implement and evaluate programs based on resident/clients strengths and interests
Anticipate needs and ensure programs and activities align with the functioning levels of the residents/clients
Participate in team meetings to plan programs with residents' interest in mind
Assist with the maintenance of appropriate department records including assessments, evaluations of planned programs detailing individual participation, charting
Maintain effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events
Complete required education in order to keep informed of current trends in the total care of the elderly
Support Resident Council by promoting Council activities
All other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications & Experience

Postsecondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university
Experience in a geriatric setting and longterm care facility
Smart Serve Certificate and Food Safety Certificate
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team oriented and compassionate
Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance and infection control
Must be up to date with COVID19 vaccinations
Bilingualism will be considered an asset

Shifts will be scheduled according to the availability of the individual, and the open shifts that are required to be filled.
