Description

The City of Cornwall is seeking a part time Recreologist at the Glen Stor Dun Lodge who will establish comprehensive activities and recreation service that is designed to provide both therapeutic and supportive approaches to Resident/Client care in the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual area.

The Recreologist is responsible for providing the proper execution of the following:

  • Design, implement and evaluate programs based on resident/clients strengths and interests
  • Anticipate needs and ensure programs and activities align with the functioning levels of the residents/clients
  • Participate in team meetings to plan programs with residents' interest in mind
  • Assist with the maintenance of appropriate department records including assessments, evaluations of planned programs detailing individual participation, charting
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events
  • Complete required education in order to keep informed of current trends in the total care of the elderly
  • Support Resident Council by promoting Council activities
  • All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university
  • Experience in a geriatric setting and longterm care facility
  • Smart Serve Certificate and Food Safety Certificate
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team oriented and compassionate
  • Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance and infection control
  • Must be up to date with COVID19 vaccinations
  • Bilingualism will be considered an asset


Shifts will be scheduled according to the availability of the individual, and the open shifts that are required to be filled.
