Position Overview

As a part of the Long-Term Care Division, you will maintain the therapeutic gardens (planting and weeding of flower beds) and general outside maintenance of grounds and building.

Qualifications:

Experience in gardening and flowerbed maintenance and a general knowledge of grounds maintenance work. Applicants should have an interest in and experience with horticulture. Knowledge and experience in the use of outdoor equipment (both hand tools and motorized equipment).

Knowledge and care of outdoor planting materials:
i.e. annuals, perennials, trimming, etc. Experience with painting and building maintenance. Preference given to those
currently enrolled in a Horticultural or Parks & Recreation program. Possess the ability to work and communicate harmoniously with residents, staff and the general public. Have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Summer Student positions with the County of Lambton may be dependent on funding and the funding criteria, which specifies that students must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age
  • Registered as a fulltime student in the previous academic year and returning to school on a fulltime basis in the next academic year
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or have refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee ProtectionAct
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Will not have another fulltime job
