Shift Work - 40+ hours per week
Key Function:
The Journeyman Machinist is responsible for setting-up and operating precision metal cutting and grinding machines such as lathes and milling machines to make and repair various products to very precise specifications in a field environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Complete detailed Health & Safety paperwork such as Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), Personal Protective Equipment inspections (PPEs), vehicle, trailer, tool inspections and Focus Observation Cards (FOCs);
- Responsible for performing a various spectrum of tasks such as:
- Base milling;
- Portable machining;
- Pipe cutting and bevelling;
- Line boring;
- Flange facing;
- Stud removal;
- Operate a manual lathe, mills and various other manual shop machining equipment as required;
- Read and interpret blueprints, manuals and detailed drawings related to specific machinery or equipment and ensure all work is completed to specified industry standards;
- Attend and participate in daily and monthly Health & Safety meetings;
- Assist Field Millwrights in conducting field millwrighting operations as required;
- Collaborate with other trades in completing various mechanical scope;
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment;
- Various other tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration_
- Journeyman Machinist certification from accredited postsecondary institution (or working towards);
- Mandatory safety tickets
- H2S Alive, CSTS, WHMIS & Standard First Aid;
- Safety tickets considered an asset
- Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection & Overhead Crane
- Additional education considered an asset: Journeyman Millwright certification.
- Experience_
- Minimum of 35 years experience in a Machinist position.
- Knowledge/Skills_
- Intermediate knowledge of all Office 365 functions (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher etc.);
- Advanced level of reading and understanding required such as specialized and technical manuals, detailed operating and procedure manuals, safety documentation, blueprints, drawings and diagrams;
- Advanced level of mathematical skills required such as formulas, measurements and calculations on performance and specifications;
- Ability to take initiative and work independently or in a team dynamic;
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on safety;
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize a variety of tasks and duties and thrive in a fastpaced environment;
- Analytical, problemsolving and decisionmaking skills;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Hold a strong knowledge of recommended installation procedures;
- Manual dexterity, motor coordination and physical strength.
The successful applicant must be able to provide a clear, valid Police Information Check, proof of a valid Drivers' license and proof of all applicable safety certification.
Pay:
$27.00-$40.00 per hour
