We are currently looking for an experienced Shop Foreman/ Manager to join our team.

You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our repair shop, ensuring quality workmanship, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Our fleet primarily consist of bucket trucks, digger derricks, medium to heavy duty on highway vehicles and general construction tools and equipment.

To thrive in this leadership role, you must have strong mechanical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage a team.

What you will do Everyday

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the shop mechanics
  • Prioritize and assign work and ensure timely completion of repairs
  • Provide guidance and support to technicians in diagnosing and repairing vehicles
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets industry standards
  • Accountable for maintaining appropriate levels of inventory ensuring inventory accuracy
  • Assist with complex repairs or troubleshooting as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Conduct CVIP inspection on required equipment
  • Oversee the preventative maintenance program
  • Analyze maintenance costs and provide recommendations on fleet utilization and replacement
  • Promote and lead a health and safety culture within the maintenance team to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed
  • From time to time you will be required to receive off duty phone calls to assist mechanical staff in trouble shooting requirements
  • Other duties as required

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to be adaptable, manage multiple priorities and work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to facilitate conflict resolution internally and externally.
  • Negotiation skills, with a focus on bestvalue and fitforpurpose solutions.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and potential risks when making repair and maintenance decisions.
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Qualifications Needed

  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with a minimum 5 years experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence and submission of a 5year Driver's Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Valid CVIP Inspection Certificate
  • Valid Alberta Class 3Q is an asset
  • Experience with hydraulic and utility equipment is an asset
  • Canadian Utility Fleet Forum (CUFF) Certification is an asset
