  • Identify and manage commercial risks
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and execute both corporate and strategic agreements such as: Leases, Rental Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Teaming Agreements, Contractual Joint Venture, Sales/Purchasing Agreements, Subcontracts, Consulting Agreements, and Licensing Agreements
  • Review and negotiate customer proposed terms and conditions
  • Serve as the point of contact for customers and suppliers on commercial matters
  • Participate in proposal development and review
  • As needed, provide guidance on commercial matters to project managers or other operational staff, including training to new project managers and other employees in commercial practices and procedures
  • Assist in the development and implementation procedures for effective commercial management in compliance with company policy. As appropriate, contribute to or influence company policies
  • Work with Risk Management / Finance / Legal to coordinate contractual and, as applicable, insurance requirements
  • Support Program Delivery / Business Development / Marketing to ensure company products and services are offered with appropriate, competitive terms and conditions
  • Monitor competitive terms and conditions, customer satisfaction and contracting practices and, as applicable, recommend changes
  • Handle ongoing issues and change management within the Commercial practice
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate data with stakeholders to help develop procurement strategies, performance measurement strategies, corporate plans and budgets
  • Coordinate strategies with internal stakeholders to help maximize the use of Canadian capabilities in sourcing practices and procedures

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Law or Business or business and legal training combined with relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience working in commercial contracting, ideally working in the military, defence, aerospace and security industry.
  • Knowledge of PSPC RFP, ITT/ITQ and RFQ/RFI procedures
  • Knowledge of PSPC SACC manual terms and conditions related to the purchase of goods and services, intellectual property, and software development.
  • Knowledge of business ethics, the Canadian controlled goods directive and the US International TrafficinArms Regulations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Technical proficiency in the MS Office suite, primarily Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Assets/ Nice to haves:

  • Working in a Digital environment with Salesforce
  • Knowledge of Industrial and Technological Benefits program in Canada
  • Knowledge and experience in contracting with the Government of Canada using a variety of contracting mechanisms including TBIPS and SBIPS
  • A professional certification in Commercial & Contracts Management or Supplier Relationship Management from World Commerce & Contracting (formally IACCM), NCMA or other relevant certification
