The Role


The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Specialist will act as the primary coordinator for staff to be connected with shift openings in child care centres.

The ECE Specialist will be responsible for being aware of the status of our part-time employees, including but not limited to their general availability, strengths, areas of opportunity, motivations to work, and future employment goals.

As the primary contact for Sentient Supply Staff, the ECE Specialist will increase the ability to fill shifts, based on their knowledge of our staff and what shifts (centre location, times, etc.) would meet their desired job.

The ECE Specialist will also lead the Quality Assurance program, which includes visiting centres to observe and provide constructive feedback to each supply staff annually.

The job entails coaching supply staff if an issue arises in a centre, tracking client issues with staff, and reporting issues and resolutions to Management.

As an advocate for Sentient, the role will include being an emergency supply staff in the scenario that a supply staff is unable to make his/her shift and Sentient needs to fill the position.

Sentient HR is a trusted partner in the field of early childhood education. The ECE Specialist is the contact to the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The planning, monitoring, growth and implementation of Sentient's Apprenticeship Program is managed by the ECE Specialist.


As the lead on managing the staff recognition program, the ECE Specialist will track and motivate staff through the incentive program and provide recommendations for changes to the program.

The ECE Specialist will be aware and hold membership to industry organizations and associations and be cognizant of industry trends and changes.


Success
The successful ECE Specialist will be a trusted partner of and primary contact for over 300 supply staff.

The ECE Specialist will be a results-drive individual, capable of ensuring that new staff are scheduled to work once all documentation is complete, support staff in training on the website, and get to know each staff in order to best serve them.

The Specialist will be able to inspire supply staff to increase their level of engagement, commitment to their role and pride to work as a part of Sentient.

The ECE Specialist is an RECE who has the experience to coach staff, build rapport quickly, and have both business acumen and experience in the classroom.

The successful ECE Specialist will bring Sentient closer to our staff and be the first choice to work for in the child care supply staffing industry.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Must hold an Early Childhood Education Diploma from an accredited institution or its equivalent.
  • Must have proof of current registration with the College of Early Childhood Education and be a member in good standing.
  • Must have a current clear Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check.
  • Must hold a valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C certificate.
  • Must provide an uptodate immunization record as per new Ministry requirements.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working with children between the ages of 18 months six (6) years

Asset:
School Age experience.

  • Must have excellent command of the English language (both oral and written); highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to cooperate, follow instructions and make difficult decisions.
  • A working knowledge of the Ministry of Educations Early Years Act and the City of Toronto's Assessment for Quality Improvement.

  • Flexibility the role includes lastminute supply work in emergency situations, potentially weekly.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, managing time and workload.
  • Nimble in business; able to make recommendations to management to stay ahead of competition.
