Project
The
Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia.
It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.
Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.
Position
Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will:
- Coordinate biophysical assessment programs to test the accuracy of predications made in the environmental assessment and to monitor the effectiveness of mitigation.
- Perform quality control on internal and external reporting to ensure consistency across disciplines and environmental component areas.
- Assist with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedule.
- Coordinate meetings and communications related to regulatory and monitoring activities with project teams and site management, including visits to the operating site to support various follow up programs.
- Review, evaluate, approve, and manage contracts for work to be performed by consultants and outside contractors.
- Promote environmental awareness and standards relating to environmental programs to employees and contractors to minimize any risk of negative impacts to the environment.
- Inform, involve, and engage key internal stakeholders regarding project level effects based on realtime monitoring activities appropriately to inform efficient realtime decision making as part of adaptive management processes.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships and represent WLNG Project positively in the community.
- Complete tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, Biological or Earth Sciences; equivalent combination of education and experience in related field of study may be considered.
- 45 years of experience on major projects and field experience in biophysical assessments in support of effectiveness monitoring and adaptive management.
- Experience working collaboratively with large multidisciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
- Communication/interpersonal skills to be able to interact with front line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
- Experience communicating, documenting and executing commitments outlined in management plans, permits authorizations from appropriate authorities including Indigenous, federal, and provincial authorities.
- Familiarity with relevant BC and federal legislation and regulations.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, fastpaced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities and changing priorities within tight time frames.
- Expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g., MS Office, ESRI, CAD).
- Ability to foster genuine, open, and collaborative communication.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently and across different levels of the organization.
- Physically capable of working outside on difficult terrain and in all weather conditions.
- Accepts responsibility and demonstrates commitment to delivery of tasks and targets.
- Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
- A valid driver's license and passport.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- This role will be a combination of office and sitebased role.
- The position is based in Vancouver, BC (WLNG head office), with periodic travel to the Woodfibre LNG project site near Squamish, BC.
