Position Overview:


The IH-Workforce Development Director (IH-WD) supports the commitment of the WRHA in the development of a workforce that is reflective of the Region's Indigenous population.

The Director works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement strategies to enhance Indigenous participation in the health care workforce throughout the region.


Provide coordination and support to the WRHA recruitment and retention efforts, including support to appropriate recruitment, retention and workforce planning committees.

The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating recruitment efforts and will be responsible for developing, updating and distributing materials and tools in support of the recruitment strategies.


Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively senior management and leadership experience, preferably in the public sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in Indigenous Workforce Development with a focus on program development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with community based traditional Indigenous cultural programs or initiatives with previous experience in managing diversity.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and coaching.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Graduate degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study from a recognized postsecondary institution.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Valid driver's license.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff, management, and professionals in diverse groups and across sectors.
  • Excellent leadership abilities and the ability to work within a complex multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong communication skills: presentation, workshops, facilitation, report writing, and interpersonal.
  • Community development expertise.
  • Effective problemsolving abilities and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated conflict management knowledge and skills.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions.
  • Knowledge of community employment issues and training resources.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment.
  • Strong computer literacy and experience.
  • Health related background, experience and knowledge of health care system in Manitoba.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.

Effective April 1, 2024, Golden West Centennial Lodge will also be part of the WRHA legal entity.
