The Central West Ontario Health Team (CW OHT) is a collaboration of health partners across Brampton, North Etobicoke, West Woodbridge, Malton and Bramalea.

As one of the largest OHT's in the province, we serve close to 900,000 people.

Together, over 153 partners including home and community care, acute care, specialty care, primary care, long-term care, mental health and addictions services, patients/clients, community support services, come together to provide integrated, coordinated care for the community.


As part of the CW OHT Secretariat, the Communications Specialist is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the CW OHT communication, digital media and marketing plan that aligns with its annual business plan and strategic goals, to address and respond to the needs of diverse internal and external audiences.

The Communications Specialist reports to the Manager, Integrated Health Systems.


Accountabilities:

  • Implementing public, corporate and reputational communications from concept through to production
  • Manages the graphic design, brand identity and management and photography needs of the CW OHT communications which may include liaising with external providers for photography and videography
  • Manage the development of communications materials from concept to production (including but not limited key messages, speaking notes, memos, presentations, posters, brochures, booklets, postcards, blogs, video scripts, web and social media content, newsletters)
  • Oversee, monitor and update all CW OHT digital media channels including the CW OHT's website and social media accounts
  • Contribute to thought leadership on communications and stakeholder engagement best practices
  • Monitor issues, emerging trends and themes within the health care system/community and identify opportunities to align with the OHT's overarching communications and enhance efforts to connect with community health care system stakeholders
  • Manage and/or contribute to communications needs for various CW OHT programs and initiatives, including events, branding activities, etc.
  • Work directly with team members on both CW OHT and OHT partner teams teams to support CW OHT communication needs, in addition to building capacity in the team by advising on best practices related to stakeholder engagement, targeting audiences and amplifying messaging

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or similar discipline
  • Five years of experience in in social media, marketing/advertising, communications
  • Knowledge of basic HTML, content management systems and graphics software programs such as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Minimum of three years of experience in corporate communications or public relations in a hospital, health care or community/social services setting
  • Foundational graphic design expertise
  • Experience with an Ontario Health Team an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of communications, marketing and public relations principles combined with exceptional project management, proofreading and editing skills
  • Superior writing skills and demonstrated ability to take complex, sensitive and clinical information and quickly translate it to compelling messages/copy to reach multiple and varying audiences
  • Must have knowledge and working experience with social media networks (including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and best practices, keeping on the cusp of new digital trends
  • Ability to effectively manage a broad scope of projects with varying deadlines, ranging from OHTwide initiatives to singlefocus projects and issues, by providing support to develop and impl
