We are currently hiring a Float Planner to join our Special Commodities Operations team.


PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The
Float Planner provides operational coverage and assistance for all outbound and inbound trips.

The float planner is responsible for effectively and profitably moving freight within the United States and Canada, while maintaining a low percentage of empty miles.

The Float Planner will also multi-task and provide coverage for our Driver Coordinators lunches and vacations.


DUTIES INCLUDE:


  • Accurately piecing together LTL shipments and negotiate with third party carriers/load brokers to generate effective revenue on inbound trucks and backhauls
  • Network with partner carriers for lane balancing
  • Daily completion of loadlink ensuring all available trucks and loads are posted accurately
  • Brokering excess freight to partner carriers
  • Complete and submit rate requests for customers to ensure all inbound loads are profitable

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum of 3 years of dispatching experience is required
  • Experience in transportation Industry is an asset
  • Strong self discipline and multitasking skills to be able to effectively complete tasks without constant supervision
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problemsolving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective geographical knowledge of North America
  • Must be willing and able to work Statutory holidays when required
  • Positive outgoing and friendly personality

HOURS:


Days:
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Afterhours and/or holiday support coverage as required.
