Position Summary:


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

- analyzing, interpreting, auditing, pre-editing, keying in and verifying a large volume of source documents from all departments and schools, contracts, edit reports and action requests (ARs) against federal and provincial legislations, four collective agreements, two exempt terms and conditions of employment, Division policies, administrative regulations, practices and procedures prior to accurately inputting information into the PeopleSoft HRMS
- investigating and obtaining information to complete records and advising other Human Resources functional areas of corrections
- processing changes from source documents and confirming that the compensation rate properly calculates into the PeopleSoft system
- processing annual pay increments for exempt and support staff and adjusting increment dates for staff returning from leave and layoff
- reviewing and processing contracts for Metro Continuing Education instructors, including calculating appropriate payouts and processing and calculating pay adjustments
- processing work permits and temporary SIN information including confirming eligibility to work, monitoring expiry dates and contacting employee and Decision Units for updated information
- calculating red-circled salaries, variable pay, pay in lieu of benefits, and allowances/bonuses including determining eligibility as required by collective agreements
- determining eligibility for teacher relieving allowance (REL) as per the collective agreement including coordinating with Decision Unit administrators regarding locations worked
- providing information and assistance to Division employees related to Human Resources policies, collective agreements, and exempt terms and conditions
- maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information and contributing to the achievement of Department goals
- developing, updating and maintaining filing, tracking systems and procedural manuals
- ensuring seasonal, bi-weekly and monthly deadlines are met
- assisting with year end and school start up processes
- ensuring information in PeopleSoft are correct and updated accordingly


Education/Qualifications:

- a diploma in Human Resources program or a related field
- two years related experience in large, complex environment working with various collective agreements
- knowledge of Human Resources policies, practices and procedures
- understanding of applicable legislation and collective agreements
- solid understanding of PeopleSoft HR Management System or other applicable HRMS system
- advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and Google Apps
- strong mathematical, analytical problem solving and data entry skills
- excellent communication and customer service skills
- ability to work with tight deadlines


Rate of Pay:

$ $31.18 per hour
