As a
Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the physical security of the Museum's assets; ensuring safety of the public and personnel; adhering to the Museums service, security and operating standards; responding to situations such as security and protection encroachment, emergencies, evacuations and disaster situations.


What we are looking for:

The security officer must be able to stand and walk for an extended period. He must have good judgment, a good sense of observation and a good ability to concentrate. He must also demonstrate self-discipline and be level-headed; he must provide excellent customer service and have a collaborative attitude.


Minimum of six (6) months of experience working in a field related to security:

  • Enforcing control measures;
  • Preparing and writing incident reports;
  • Working in a client facing institution and interacting with the public.

Knowledge of:


  • The principles of protecting material, buildings, information and people;
  • Public safety and security procedures / protocols;
  • Emergency practices;
  • Radio communication code practices;
  • Safety equipment such as radios, key systems, firstaid kits, equipment in case of spills or water leaks, fire extinguishers, equipment associated with fire panels, etc.

Education:

A College Diploma in Law Enforcement or other accredited professional training in security or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Conditions of employment:

12 hour shift work (days, nights, weekends, holidays);:

  • Valid driver's license;
  • Being able to obtain a Level C certifie in General First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation;
  • Being able to obtain a Valid firearms Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL);
  • Security Clearance: Enhanced reliability.

Compensation:
E2 - $41,778 to $51,704
