Job Summary:

The Mobile Equipment Operator yard will operate mobile shear to process scrap materials and move scrap within the yard as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Follow all established Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
Inspects mobile shear, daily and documents on checklists to ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order.
Performs daily preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper working order such as lubrication, greasing, fueling, and keeping cab clean.
Inspects for proper scrap grade and safety and environmental concerns such as tanks, cylinders, etc. while shearing.
Shear unprepared material into prepared state identifying size, thickness, and physical dimensions.
Use mobile equipment to lift and move scrap from one area of the yard to another.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist with yard housekeeping efforts and perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed.
Assist coworkers in daily operational duties that are essential to the yard in terms of safety, efficiency, and profitability.
Problem solving input and contributions as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

High School Education/GED preferred.
Desire to enhance skills and knowledge to develop as a Gerdau employee.
