Our manufacturing company is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for Production Manager to join our Operations Team to support us.


Summary:

The Production Manager oversees the daily operations of all aspects of door manufacturing by providing leadership, developing strategic plans, and driving improvement.

The Production Manager is a strong leader with an analytical mind and excellent interpersonal communication skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment. Establish safety goals in line with company objectives, actively participate on the JHSC as a management representative.
  • Establish and maintain all scheduling of production orders. Provide information to communicate with customers any updates or ETA's. Communicate the scheduling details for the production leads. Track all production orders and communicate their status to the appropriate department. Approve and coordinate rushes and special ETA commitments. Flag, communicate and deal with orders that are at risk of missing commitment and or due dates.
  • Manage raw materials. Report to purchasing any material shortages that are reported to you.
  • Communicate with custom materials to ensure on time delivery.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Provide leadership/management and training for a team of production associates and supervisors.
  • Build and maintain atrusting relationship with employees.
  • Practice conflict resolution among departments and employees.
  • Facilitate a collaborative working relationship between departments and disciplines.
  • Communicate with employees about performance expectations.
  • Initiate appropriate disciplinary action programs for employees under his / her direction as required in collaboration with Human Resources and the Director, Operations.
  • Initiate and drive continuous process improvements and problem solving to enhance safety, ergonomics, flow through, efficiency, and quality to world class standards.
  • Deployment of statistical control for key processes.
  • Ensure that machinery is maintained, properly guarded and safe to operate.
  • Partner with Human Resources and the Director, Operations for recruitment and selection of employees.
  • Assists in the process of maintaining inventory which includes midyear and yearend count and reconciliation.
  • Validating and authorizing employee timesheets while adhering to payroll deadlines.
  • All other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Good leadership and communication skills. Manage a team of 4050 direct and indirect personnel.
  • Certificate in Industrial Management or equivalent.
  • Ability to maintain (foresee bottlenecks and remove them) and improve product throughput in their area.
  • Knowledge of the product under his / her supervision.
  • Knowledge of the equipment maintenance and set up under his / her control.
  • Ability to work shifts, overtime as required.
  • Excellent attendance record, must be dependable and reliable, with the ability to maintain high level of commitment.
  • Ability to complete extra supervisory training as required, including Basic Supervisory Skills, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and basic First Aid. Having previously completed training a definite advantage.
  • Ability to deal with the pressures of meeting deadlines, handling multiple tasks, maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and standard corporate software (Microsoft Office, ERP Systems)
  • Must possess excellent leadership and problemsolving skills, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Lean manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Kronos or Ceridian Dayforce an asset.
