High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid and unrestricted Ontario Class G-license is required. Forklift training required.

Job Summary:


Under general supervision, the Driver is responsible for courier duties for the efficient delivery of goods throughout the University campus and adjacent areas.


Representative Accountabilities:


  • Primary Accountabilities_**:
  • Pick up, transport, and drop off cargo and goods to and from various locations on campus and within the surrounding areas.
  • Operate University vehicles and equipment in accordance with prescribed University safety regulations and policy.
  • Safely load, unload, and move materials manually to and from trucks.
  • Complete minor disassembling of goods or obstacles in pathways in the transportation of goods.
  • Operate forklift, pump carts and dollies in a safe manner.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs of cargo transported and truck maintenance.
  • Pick up and empty waste, filters and old material and dispose of in the appropriate locations.
  • Maintain loading dock cleanliness.
  • Update and maintain records.
  • General Accountabilities_:
  • Operate within established security and safety regulations.
  • Communicate with fellow workers, faculty, students, staff and visitors in an appropriate and effective manner.
  • In a position of trust, perform job assignments in an efficient and effective manner.

Effort:


  • Required to lift and carry equipment and supplies (up to 50 lbs).
  • Required to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Required to work in awkward positions.

Working Conditions:


  • Work is conducted in University owned and operated buildings and surrounding grounds.
  • Work may be conducted in an outdoor setting with exposure to inclement weather, dust and dirt.
  • Required to work independently, in teams, alone and/or in isolated work environments.
  • Exposure to loud noise and vibration from machinery and tools.
  • Required to safely handle prepackaged boxes of hazardous materials.
  • Required to operate a motor vehicle, golf cart and/or forklift for transportation on campus.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment.

Supervision:


  • May be required to be a daytoday resource on work procedures to students and casual staff.
