Job Description:
Reporting to the Academic Chair, Health and Community Studies Department, the Clinical Placement Clerk is responsible for securing placement spots at various agencies to ensure students meet their program requirements.
The incumbent is responsible for complex communication and problem solving to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of contacts inside and outside the College.
The Clinical Placement Clerk supports the specific training needs non-academic requirements of each agency.The Clinical Placement Clerk must maintain a high level of confidentiality and ensure data stewardship when dealing with the sensitive documentation required for students to attend placements.
The Clinical Placement Clerk arranges clinical placements in a variety of settings (e.g.hospitals, non-profit agencies, community health settings, schools, long term care facilities and home care), across Ontario and Canada although most often in Eastern Ontario within the Champlain Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN).
Following consultation with Program Coordinators, the Clinical Placement Clerk is responsible for negotiating and arranging clinical experiences that meet the educational requirements for students in all placement experiences within the Health and Community Studies Department.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a two (2) year diploma or equivalent in Health, Social Services, Business or Human Resources;
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing confidential data and liaising with external stakeholders;
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently, meeting competing demands and tight deadlines;
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of nursing programs, curriculum, professional competencies, provincial and national health care trends, clinical resources, clinical placement trends, and nursing student preceptorships is required;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Must interact positively, respectfully, with tact, discretion, and confidentiality and cultural awareness;
- Valid driver's license is required;
- Ability to effectively work both independently and as a part of a team is necessary;
- Expertise in using Microsoft Office software and databases is essential to the success of this position;
- Must be solutionsoriented, selfmotivated and creative with the ability to provide innovation and a project management approach to the position;
- Critical thinking skills;
- Previous project coordination experience;
- Familiarity with Algonquin College's programs.
Anticipated Weekly Schedule:
Monday to Thursday five (5) hours each day and Friday four (4) hours
