Summary
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible to plan, organize, schedule, lead, and manage the production operations of the manufacturing division.

They are responsible for driving results related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery while managing short and long-term strategies and processes.

They coordinate the Manufacturing team to meet customer requirements and work closely with the Service Manager to ensure targets are met.


Job Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure jobs are within budget and time schedule
  • Direct, control, and evaluate the daily operations on the floor for product flow and quality.
  • Develop and manage production schedules, determine labour gaps in production, and react based on relevant information
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Coordinator(s) to prioritize work in process to ensure execution and alignment with production outsourcing and inventory requirements.
  • In coordination with the QHSE Coordinator, identify and prioritize quality improvement opportunities, develop sustainable action plans, investigate warranty claims, and help provide customer responses where required.
  • Champion the safety culture by encouraging staff to identify new hazards, ensure action related to incidents are executed, improve methods of controlling/reducing risk.
  • Monitor division Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including Conformance to Schedule, Direct Labor Variance, Overall Equipment Efficiency, and others as developed
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure RHK is delivering innovative, responsive, and reliable services to customers
  • Support staff with CNC machine setups and programs as required.
  • Maintain the Master Production Schedule, Cut List, Job Travellers, and Capacity Plans within the ERP system.
  • Deploy Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to enhance the production environment and performance
  • Attend weekly meetings to communicate production results and plan future production objectives
  • Additional duties assigned as required

Leadership & Management Accountabilities

  • Provide clear and consistent direction to all direct reports on the company's vision and the plan to achieve it.
  • Provide the necessary tools, resources, training, technology, people, and time and attention for staff to complete their job responsibilities.
  • Make sure the right people are in the right seats and empower them to execute their job responsibilities effectively.
  • Ensure that departmental and individual initiatives, strategies, actions, and decisions are done so in the interest of the greater good of achieving the company vision.
  • Regularly take time to focus "on" the business to create clarity by assessing the department strategies to ensure alignment with the objectives and goals of the business.
  • Provide direct reports with clear expectations on Roles, Core Values, Rocks, and Measurables.
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire personnel by creating an environment that promotes positive, clear, and open communication.
  • Maintain a regular weekly meeting pulse to identify, discuss, and solve issues and a quarterly meeting pulse to create 90day plans.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman Machinist Certification is considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Hydraulic cylinder experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings and specifications in support of quality requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
