DESCRIPTION:


The Business Continuity and Emergency Management Program ensures that an auditable governance framework, consistent with regulatory requirements for Business Continuity and Emergency Management across the organization is developed, maintained, adhered to and can respond to unexpected disruptions to normal activities.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Part of a team of business continuity and emergency management professionals who work with senior management in all lines of business to coordinate business continuity and emergency management activities.
  • Reporting into the Senior Manager, Business Continuity.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and maturity of the enterprisewide business continuity and emergency management program including ensuring alignment of policies, standards and guidelines to global regulatory requirements.
  • Develop tools and instructional guides for both business continuity planning and emergency management.
  • Facilitate business impact analysis workshops, execute analysis and coordinate continuity strategy development.
  • Design, develop and execute enterprisewide event exercises.
  • Relationship management with external vendors.
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining program processes and practices which effectively ensure that the enterprise program remains current and incorporates/aligns with industry standards and practices as appropriate, and adequately covers general regulatory requirements.
  • Supports and/or leads processes that support BCEM governance requirements as part of the enterprise operational risk framework (as assigned).
  • In a relationship management capacity, provides guidance and direction to internal teams to ensure their business continuity or emergency management processes are in accordance with enterprisewide business continuity and emergency management program and quality standards.
  • Contribute to tracking, status reporting and analysis metrics in order to support the continuous improvement of the program.
  • Continues to identify and appropriately interprets and integrates requirements and information obtained from various sources, including external Auditors.
  • Participates as independent business continuity professional in support of various other initiatives to achieve the risk management objectives.
  • Subject matter expert for BCEM, including event monitoring and response.
  • Participates in external business continuity and emergency management organizations and keep abreast of industry best practices and trends.
  • Provide 7/24 event management oncall support as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:

The incumbent must have an in-depth understanding of business continuity, emergency management and their governance frameworks with strong knowledge of best practices and protocols, and operational risk management


Specific expertise should include:

  • Business Continuity Management practices and protocols, including indepth knowledge of BCM standards promoted by DRII, BCI and ISO.
  • Strong knowledge of Emergency Management protocols, procedures, and regulations.
  • A strong understanding of operational risk and resilience, business process improvement methods as well as risk related control frameworks and practices.

The incumbent should also possess the following skills and experience:

  • 12+ years direct exposure to business continuity management and emergency management in operations production of a technology environment and/or various similar LOB environments /industry.
  • Mature depth of exposure/understanding of Business Continuity and Emergency Management processes and best practices.
  • Excellent team skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional ability to remain calm under stress.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially related to facilitation, documentation, and reporting.
  • Highly developed relationship management, influencing and leadership skills.
  • Strong comprehension and skill in all aspects of MS Office, including development of automated features
  • Must participate in 'oncall' manager duties (7/24) in support of the BCEM Event Management escalation function.

Expected educational background for this position would include:


  • Minimum: Post-Secondary Degree
  • Required: Industry certification DRII or BCI, or comparable certification / postsecondary
