Lion's Head, _Halifax's Original Watering Hole_, is looking to add an enthusiastic and energetic Line Cook/Prep Cook to its back-of-house team.


As a North End favourite, our team-centric work environment thrives on collaboration to help our front-of-house provide a memorable experience for our customers.


We are looking for an individual who adapts to situations easily and can work calmly under pressure with a positive attitude.

As the back-of-house can be very fast-paced, this individual will need to be flexible and willing to be a team player with a maintained sense of urgency and momentum.

This induvial will need to be a solutions-finder and have incredible interpersonal skills.

A high level of organization and the ability to manage varying business volumes and tasks is required to be successful in this role.

This role reports directly to the Chef and General Manager (or Manager on Duty in their absence).


Responsibilities:


  • Be continually aware of and maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress.
  • Practice safe food handling and overall kitchen safety.
  • Maintain the work area, including all countertops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition by health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain and upkeep all kitchen equipment through adherence to daily cleaning procedures and notify Chef of any repairs required.
  • Adhere to all recipes and never compromise the quality of LIONS HEAD TAVERN menu and culinary offerings.
  • Complete all food production and prep sheets as well as monitor daily prep production.
  • Ensure all products are prepared, held, and served at the correct temperatures and correct visual appearance.
  • Accurately complete all orders with uncompromising quality and consistency as per restaurant and Chef specifications
  • Inventory all products that may need to be stocked, pulled, and/or prepped while keeping management informed of food quantities and quality in prep, on the line, and in holding.
  • Ensure proper rotation, labelling, and dating of all products.
  • Communicate effectively between alternate shifts (am and pm) and ensure the station is stocked and ready for service for the current and incoming shifts.
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required.
  • May be assigned to work multiple stations throughout the shift.

Qualifications & Requirement Include:


  • 1year experience in high volume restaurant line environment
  • Valid Food Safety Certification
  • Must be able to carry and lift items weighing 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand and move for extended periods to continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Complete understanding of first in, first out (F.I.F.O.) and product yield.
  • Support standards of cleanliness, timing, uniform, grooming, organization, production, food quality, and consistency.
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time

Part-time hours: 40 per week


Salary:
$15.00-$18.00 per hour

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Weekend availability

  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
