It facilitates talent management, succession planning and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing and engagement.

About the Role

Location: 16 York, Toronto or 885 West Georgia Street, Vancouver

Hybrid Home: 1 -2 days per week in office

Fixed Term Contract until March 2024


We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Human Resources (HR) team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

The role operates within the HSBC HR Operations department managing payroll and employee administration processes.

The role holder must have the ability to react and adapt quickly to changing priorities by being flexible, proactive and cooperative at all times.

The job holder is expected to possess knowledge of employee data and benefit administration, payroll processing, accounting, employment tax requirements, and people management processes.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Deliver HR Operations wide initiatives and activities in line with department strategy
  • Contribute to the payroll execution and employee data administration in compliance with the global service delivery model, risk & control framework and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance).
  • Partner with third parties' to deliver outstanding customer and transactional service. Contribute to the overall performances against service level agreements to optimum results
  • Resolve escalated employee concerns using appropriate business judgment to manage customer expectations and protect or enhance HSBC Group purpose and values
  • Support the department's compliance of regulatory and legislative responsibilities, specifically payroll and employment tax requirements. This include performing quality review on regulatory filings and tax remittances, and provide regular reporting to support ongoing compliance assessments and highlight potential gaps.
  • Perform reconciliation of payroll related general ledger or accounts.
  • Coordination of initiatives to support the People Strategy to enhance staff engagement and internal communication
  • Recommend changes and improvements to procedures and practices
  • Monitors operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies and practices; report control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.
Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in business, related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years proven and progressive human resources experience, or equivalent.
  • Experience in working in payroll, employment tax requirements, employee administration and navigating through a matrix organizational structure.
  • Advanced Excel skills such as formulas, pivot tables, Vlook ups. And Macro is an asset.
  • Strong team player who is able to work independently and meet tight deadlines under pressure
  • Proven ability to execute on change initiatives and risk management activities
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and problemssolving skills
  • Strong delivery focus and ability to meet aggressive timeframes with quality results
  • Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate effectively with senior stakeholders and across the Bank incountry, Regional and Group.
  • Ability to articulate complex and sensitive information and situations in meaningful and concise ways
