The Opportunity

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) reporting to the Manager via the Team Leader, you will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary care team, collaborating to deliver personalized care that meets the needs of clients and their families. Responsible for your own practice, you will adhere to the standards set by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN), Scope of Practice, Code of Ethics and Standards, and IWK policies and procedures. Your role involves providing independent care to patients with defined needs, established support systems, and controlled health conditions. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your responsibilities include medication administration facilitation, nursing assessments, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care delivery.

Hours of Work

Shifts: 7.5 and/or 11.25 hours; Monday-Friday, Weekends; Days, Evenings, Nights

Your Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved Practical Nurse Program with a 2-year diploma required
• Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN)
• Completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months
• Clinical experience in medication administration and health assessments
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification preferred
• Prior psychiatric nursing experience
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Initiative, time management, and organizational skills
• Commitment to professional development
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License and willingness to drive program van if needed
• Competency in other languages an asset
