Heritage Park is seeking a individual for the position of a Controller. This is a full time and permanent position.


Job Summary:

Under the direction of the CFO, provides services in the areas of financial reporting, accounts payable, cash management, controls, analysis, budgets and audit preparation.

The position will be responsible for the design and implementation of accounting systems and procedures, and full cycle accounting including producing and analyzing financial statements, account reconciliations, budgeting, year-end working papers and coordinating the year-end audit.**
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction, supervision and coaching to
    Accounts Payable and Green Room staff.**:

  • Ensures integrity of data supporting the financial statements, statistical reports and supporting documentation by testing for reasonability, reviewing the general ledger, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and reviewing journal entries. Coordinate with Finance department for cutoff for their journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepares reports and reviews operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget and prior years.

  • Prepares financial reporting packages on a monthly and quarter end basis for CFO and management on the financial position in areas of net worth, income, expenses and earnings, and investments for both the Society and Foundation.
  • Maintains the chart of accounts, books and records on all transactions for both the Society and the Foundation.
  • Provides technical expertise, training and guidance to other departments concerning financial matters.
  • Supports the CFO in the development and preparation of financial forecasts, capital and operating budgets and cash flow forecast.
  • Leads yearend process by supporting the preparation of the yearend financial statements and preparing the schedules for auditors. Coordinate with Finance Manager, Payroll and CFO for completion.

Reviews and evaluates current processes and systems implementing enhancements and upgrades where appropriate to ensure continuous improvement and efficiencies

  • Preparation of attendance reporting and analytical analysis, including Event reporting.
  • Banking approvals and support
  • Oversee Bank Reconciliations.
  • GST filing
  • Tracks and manages revenue recognition
  • Support cross functional training in Finance department.
  • Ad hoc financial, costing and pricing analysis as directed by CFO

Education and Experience:


  • CPA designation
  • 5 years experience

Skills:

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy while displaying excellent customer service;:

Strong knowledge of Excel:

Proven MS Office skills and knowledge of accounting databases, preferably Microsoft Dynamics Navision:

Knowledge of report writing tools, preferably Jet Essentials:

Excellent communication both written and verbal, good organizational and interpersonal skills; and:

Leadership and strong management skills to support Finance team members from other department staff (at all levels) and external vendors

Special Working Conditions:

-
Remote work up to 2 days per week.

Hours of Work:

-
35 hours per week; Monday through Friday
