JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
- Performs a variety of technical engineering design functions by studying project requirements
engineering drawings, specifications and related documentation; performing a variety of technical
calculations for non specialized mechanical systems such as heating, ventilating and air
conditioning systems, fire protection systems and piping systems.
mechanical engineering drawings of an advanced nature used for the installation of piping
systems for a variety of projects such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems,
structures and machinery; produces a variety of associated graphs, colour drawings, maps,
schematics; prepares a variety of complex 3D models including the use of third party software for
specialized presentations and produces detailed drawings of equipment and assemblies
associated with projects.
- Performs a variety of technical drafting related functions related to the development of drawings
as equipment specifications, related drawings and engineering standards, performing a variety of
calculations to determine heat loads and losses, efficiency curves, flow velocities, etc.; checking
data for obvious conflicts or design errors, determining the most appropriate layout of drawings
and presentation of information.
- Performs a variety of related functions such as totalling quantities of materials and components
and/or take measurements and perform basic survey tasks.
- Provide technical advice and guidance on drafting standards, software use and procedures to
staff, outside contractors to ensure adherence to BC Hydro standards and accuracy of information
- and details, including translations of drawing produced by other computer assisted drafting
- Performs a variety of operating functions for the computer assisted drafting system; maintains
and Drafter 2-Mechanical jobs.- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the
job.
Qualifications:
***- High School graduation with a diploma in drafting from a government accredited technical
institute or equivalent plus related courses in the operation of BC Hydro's computerized drafting-and some experience or training in civil and structural and/or electrical drafting.- Must hold a valid class five (5) driver's license.

- A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain the following requirements in good
standing:
Driver's License Type = Class - This is a 1 year Full Time Temporary position.
- Inventor skills will be considered an asset.
- Revit skills will be considered an asset.
- McLaren Work Management experience will be considered an asset.
- Applicants will be required to complete a written/technical test to demonstrate their understanding
