INSTRUCTOR, LINC

FACULTY OF SKILLS AND FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING


An extensive selection of program integrated settlement services and special projects such as the LINC student learning events, community partner presentations/settlement sessions (including those from Francophone organizations), Indigenous Education, Inclusion and Equity, or a LINC peer mentorship, and student social community project are meant to help develop leadership skills, build self-confidence, resilience, sense of community, and conversational English as well as decrease loneliness and help students meet new friends.

We also offer support services such as digital navigation for students struggling with technology and basic computer skills and flexible scheduling options and delivery modes to help facilitate LINC learners' access to a high caliber learning experience.

Further, services for students with disabilities are available.

The LINC ASL class provides language and settlement training with focus on expressive and receptive skills, followed by English reading and writing skills, with topics ranging from basic settlement to those of special interest to deaf and hearing-impaired students.

Outside of the LINC American Sign Language class, blind/low-vision students are supported to allow them to access/remain in school.

We are looking for casual Instructors for our fulltime, part time evening, and Satrurday programs.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Provide language and settlement training based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks to assist newcomers in transitioning to life, employment, or further education.
  • Cobuild and share LINC/CLB/PBLA appropriate curriculum material and assessment tools that allow students to succeed.
  • Implement PBLA Practice Guidelines.
  • Meet online course quality standards including but not limited to course organization and good practice for accessibility.
  • Implement and support learners with their eportfolios.
  • Provide ongoing support to learners in their digital learning and navigation.
  • Complete instructor administrative tasks as required by the program.
  • Attend staff meetings to collaborate and discuss.
  • Please note that a component of this position requires you to be on campus at our Edmonton downtown location.
  • Actively support college, faculty, and IRCC and program priorities.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Postsecondary degree in TESL; additional Ed Tech and/or Information Technology expertise would be an asset.
  • If your education was received internationally we recommend you obtain an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations.
  • Training, experience, and expertise in online teaching and learning, with particular focus on estandards; Moodle related experience would be an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and TEAMS.
  • Proficiency with elearning development apps such as Articulate or H5P would be an asset.
  • PBLA lead certification an asset.
  • On campus presence required

SALARY:
Reflective of what you bring, AKA your education and experience. These are casual positions with an additional 11.2% in lieu of vacation and benefits.


This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement outlines how pay is determined.
