The Corporate and Capital Planning Branch is responsible for providing strategic leadership by managing and coordinating Business and Capital Planning as well as reporting for Alberta Health to ensure timely, informed and consistent decisions are made on ministry-wide priorities.

The Branch is responsible for prioritizing and managing provincial investment in health infrastructure, developing strategic policy and planning capacity as well as coordination; provide leadership on key priorities; including Health Capital Plan, Business Plan, Annual Report, and Enterprise Risk Management.


Role Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate and Capital Planning, the Director, Corporate Planning and Reporting, provides senior management leadership to the Corporate Planning and Reporting unit to ensure the systematic development and implementation of ministry business planning and reporting functions and the provision of recommendations, advice, and information to executive decision makers at Alberta Health.


The Director is responsible for leading corporate processes related to the development of the ministry business plan and annual report, both of which are legislated requirements under the Fiscal Planning and Transparency Act.

Completing these initiatives includes facilitating the review and inclusion of appropriate performance measures to support progress reporting against ministry strategic priorities.

The Director also leads the development and implementation of enterprise risk management frameworks for the department, including the annual development of a corporate risk registers, risk register reports, and supports the development of strategic, operational and program risk assessments at the divisional level.


The Director's responsibilities also include leading processes that support accountability requirements to the Minister of other organizations, including Acute Care, Continuing Care, and Primary Care and public reporting of results achieved.

This includes the development of collaborative processes to review and approve business plans and reports from other organizations, including Alberta Health Services.


As the Director of the unit, you will provide strategic leadership and advice to ministry staff to support corporate consultation and engagement in the areas of business planning, annual reporting, AHS' accountability requirements, and enterprise risk management.

Qualifications:


University graduation in business management, public administration, social sciences, or other related field; supplemented by a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible and directly related leadership experience with expertise in public sector strategic and business planning, performance measurement, reporting, policy development, environmental scanning, issues management, and enterprise risk management in health-related and/or publicly funded organizations.

Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
