In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and annual salary range of $64,186 - $106,970.


Location - North campus. This role is in person

Position summary


Reporting to the Manager, Student Services, Co-op and Engineering Career Connections, the Student Engagement Officer leads a wide range of initiatives and programs that support the Engineering student community and enhance student engagement.

The Officer represents the Faculty of Engineering on a number of university-wide committees, Faculty committees, and at student, Faculty and larger University events, serving as a representative for Engineering to the larger community.

The Officer is a portfolio leader and also provides strategic advice on a number of matters related to student recruitment and engagement.

The position works in alignment with Academic Advising Services and serves engineering students by creating a clear path that supports them throughout their programs and enables them to complete their programs on time, overcome barriers to success, and enjoy a positive educational experience.

The Officer is responsible for an innovative and efficient "students first" model that fosters engagement among students, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders while supporting the Faculty's reputation for excellence.


In all facets of this role, this position endeavors to integrate and advance the University's commitments to equity, diversity and inclusivity.

This position understands, fulfills, and promotes the health, safety and environment responsibilities identified in university policy.

Duties

Student Recruitment and Engagement

  • Primary point of contact for the College of Natural & Applied Sciences (CNAS) Student Recruitment Centre of Expertise ensuring that the Faculty of Engineering has open lines of communication and works in collaboration with partners to achieve Faculty admission objectives in alignment with the University and Faculty commitments to Indigenous Initiatives and Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity.
  • Lead and oversight for Faculty of Engineering Student Events (First Year Night, all student engagement events) communicates and delegates to First Year Coordinator.
  • Develops initiatives and programs related to student life (especially incoming and new students) including new student orientation working in collaboration with the First Year Director and Faculty Stakeholders such as the Associate Dean Programs and Associate Dean Students. Investigate and make recommendations on measuring student engagement.
  • Develops and oversees a comprehensive student engagement retention, and outreach strategy and plan
