JOB TITLE:
Part-Time Temporary Community Support Worker


TERM:
ASAP to March 31st, 2023


SHIFTS: 8:30 pm

  • 12:30am, Friday to Monday

JOB SITE:
Tri-Cities


REPORTS TO:
Manager Winter Shelter


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field such as Psych, Criminology or Social Work with:
  • 1 year of related experience with emphasis on mental health, substance use homelessness and/or social services.
OR

  • Diploma/Certificate in Social services or health with:
  • 3 years related experience with emphasis on mental health, substance use, homelessness and/or social services.
OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, including lived experience, may be considered.

AND
-
A valid BC driver's license (Class 5)

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Naloxone Training.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.

KEY DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides a range of supports, serving homeless/at risk individuals.
  • Services include a bed, food, and general support of clients who may be facing complex biopsychosocial issues.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the facility including: participant pick up or drop off; intaking new participants into the program; food service; updating client records; communicating effectively with clients and other staff; and maintaining a clean safe and secure environment for staff and clients by participating in regular and timely needle sweeps.
  • Coordinates with the Outreach Team and maintain communication between shifts about participant's housing plans.
  • The mínimal barrier approach of the site will require excellent and flexible engagement skills.
  • Actively participates in building a skilled, cohesive, collaborative staff team, including demonstrating commitment to program principles; resolving conflict and negativity as they arise; assisting in orienting, training and mentoring of all staff, including casuals and peer supports.

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 2 months

Part-time hours: 16 per week


Salary:
$26.42-$29.13 per hour


Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:

  • Overtime pay

Experience:

Support Worker: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (preferred)
  • Class 5 Drivers License (required)
