Boeing Winnipeg is seeking a CMM Operator to join our team in our
Winnipeg, MB location.


The
CMM Operator will plan and perform all activities including set ups and adjustments required to operate the coordinate measuring machine (CMM), and portable computer aided measuring (CAMs) equipment (faro arms, trackers, etc.) to inspect tools, templates, jigs, models, patterns and detail parts and assemblies, including final inspections of tools and/or parts.

Ascertain conformance with appropriate tooling, engineering drawings and specifications.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Read and interpret engineering documents (drawings, specifications, etc.), machine or tool drawings, CATIA data and/or programs, work orders, nonconformance records, and inspection criteria, operating manuals, shop mathematics (geometry, trigonometry, etc.).
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), precision measuring instruments, handbooks, formulas, tools and equipment necessary in accomplishing inspection tasks.
  • Use conventional and computer aided optical equipment in accomplishing inspection assignments. Read and interpret electronic engineering models (CATIA, Enovia, etc.) and other computer data in performing work assignments requiring Spatial Analyzer (SA), Personal Computer Dimensional Measuring Interface Specification (PC-DMIS), PC-DMISNC, or any other program that becomes necessary to perform the job. Utilize the measuring equipment to collect and act on SPC data.
  • Produce and initiate inspection programs online or offline.
  • Document and follow inspection procedures to accept or reject parts, tools, assemblies, etc.
  • Load, unload probes or other equipment, position tools and/or parts to be measured, and locate proper measuring points.
  • Plan sequence of own work. Perform digitizing functions as assigned. Maintain records and/or logs as required.
  • Coordinate with other departments and disciplines within company and contact customers and vendors as directed, in accomplishing work assignments, maintenance or repair.
  • Identify and record problems and assist in corrective action of the CAMS equipment when operating malfunctions occur. Perform daily cleaning and evaluation of the CAMS equipment to ensure they are calibrated and maintained in good working order.
  • Assist and support training of coworkers as required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):


  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Grade 12 or equivalent education
  • 1+ years' experience working with CATIA V5 models
  • Experience in CAMS inspection as it relates to quality acceptance

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):


  • Certificate in CAMS inspection and/or a certificate in engineering technology
  • Must be proficient in industrial math, trigonometry, blueprint reading, GD&T, precision measuring, spatial, mechanical and Logical reasoning, and metrology
  • PCDMIS Level 2 training and PCDMIS offline programming experience
  • 1+ years' experience working with PCDMIS (Personal Computer Dimensional Measuring Interface Specification) and New River Kinematics Spatial Analyzer (or equivalent) is an asset
  • Experience or knowledge of quality management system is an asset
