Who is PBC Solutions?
PBC Solutions Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of PBC Health Benefits Society (operating as Pacific Blue Cross).

Our mandate is to design, transform, and deliver the benefits and claims administration services offered by governments and other large organizations along with our consortium partners Advanced Solutions (which is our information management partner), NTT DATA, and EY.


Starting in the spring of 2023, PBC Solutions will administer
Health Insurance BC Services (HIBC) on behalf of the BC Ministry of Health. HIBC Services administers medically-necessary insured doctor and hospital services through the Medical Services Plan (MSP) and drug coverage through the PharmaCare and Fair PharmaCare programs.


Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for providing accounting support to the Finance function, including receivables reporting and reconciliation activities.


Primary Duties

  • Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all invoices are accounted for and properly posted.
  • Review bank statements to verify that all posted transactions are legitimate, have supporting documentation and that pending transactions are processed.
  • Perform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits, updating and distribution of cash receipt logs, and posting of cash to the accounts receivable subledger.
  • Maintain accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared
  • Prepares and maintains a cashflow forecast, adjusting for changes in assumptions, expenses and receipts.
  • Keeps track of the company's expenses which includes reviewing vendor and subcontractor invoices as well as projectrelated expenses.
  • Coordinates expenses review and invoice preparation for client billings.
  • Document accounts receivable processes and champions their continuous improvement.
  • Creates and maintains uptodate Accounts Receivable procedure manuals.
  • Support project cost control throughout the execution of projects which includes setting up projects, and monitoring budgets against project contractual agreements.
  • Address accounts receivables inquiries and performs other duties as required to support the finance function.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Diploma in Accounting or another related discipline; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 35 years of experience in a similar role
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level
  • Experience with Workday would be an asset
